 Why Persian food is the best cuisine As someone who is Persian, I am biased when it comes down to choosing my favorite cuisine. I have had many conversations about what cuisine is the best before choosing where to eat. Some say Italian, Greek, American, Ethiopian, Indian, and the list can go on. I will stand my ground and say Persian food takes the cake as the best cuisine. Persian cuisine comes from a long and rich history of tradition and has evolved over thousands of years. It's famous for how diverse and complex the dishes are with a wide range of presentations and ingredients. Each region in Iran has its unique style and flavors but all come together when creating the national dishes. T he more I read America Ferreras, American Like Me, the more personal I become to reading these stories. Coming from immigrant parents myself, reading the many essays in Ferrera's book that are filled with real-life experiences and personal journeys about growing up in America makes you think about how you ended up here. You tend to relate yourself to the stories you are reading while comparing your own experiences and struggles to the ones in the book. While continuing in reading these essays Anjelah Johneson Reyes's chapter caught my eye the most because of how I can relate to her.  Anjelah Johnson Ryeyes grew up in San Jose California, immersed in vibrant Mexican culture. Her family navigating into the American societal context was prominent outside of her home. During her essay, she sets the scene of her Mexican heritage by describing the sounds, tastes, and colors of her family gatherings, and the Spanish language is spoken throughout her home. There are sayings for both sports that give you a better idea. of how you start your winter sports journey. Skiing is easier to learn but harder to master.   I made the right decision to read American Like Me by America Ferrera because of how these short stories can resonate with anyone who feels torn between cultures. All short stories in the book share personal experiences of authors' journeys navigating experiences between cultures. As America Ferrera talks about her experience as a Honduran immigrant growing up in the U.S. I can't help but think about my family's experience navigating to the U.S. as well.  What I hope to get out of this book is to better understand the diversity and complexity of an America that is always changing. While this book contains a collection of personal stories and essays which are inspiring to read they all have a similar story of a place where they feel they don't belong.
